An innovative SRS breakthrough in electric transport, enables cities to run clean and quiet electric fleets without unsightly and obstructive catenary masts and hanging wires. This is especially welcome in areas of notable architectural heritage or constraints like narrow streets or bridges, where hanging wires are ugly or dangerous.
SRS supplies power through conductor rails or pads embedded in the track or road at tram stops or bus terminals. The vehicle stops over the device, a charging shoe lowers to charge the battery, and then retracts. For trams, the process takes just 20 seconds: ordinary dwell time at stops; service is not delayed at all. For e-buses it takes a few minutes to recharge, so cities can fit SRS at bus terminal stops.
