Chariot Motors delivered four new electric buses in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria, April 2023

In May 2023, Stolichen Elektrotransport public transport operator in Sofia, Bulgaria, put 4 new 12m long UC e-buses into operation. They have 40kWh ultracapacitors and are charged within five or six minutes, which is enough for a 40km trip. The UC e-buses equip route route 73, due to extend to the Mladost Edno residential estate in the capital with unduplicated route lengths of 19km.

Average electrical energy consumption of the e-buses is about 1.1KWh/km.

The e-buses are in operation 7 days in a week, each e-bus covers about 75,000km per year.

The order for four new low-floor, fast-charging e-buses and three new charging stations is part of a project named Implementing actions to Improve Air Quality in the Metropolitan Municipality through Purchasing Commissioning Electric Road Transport Buses and Trolleybuses, financed by Operational Programme Environment 2014-2020 with the assistance of the European Union Cohesion Fund.
