Electreon Wireless is set to achieve a significant milestone by completing a four-day 1500 kilometre/900 mile electric car trip without charging. This will be thanks to the company’s proprietary in-road charging strips.
The record-setting drive began on Sunday at Electreon’s headquarters in Beit Yanai, Israel. It is set to end on Wednesday.
Throughout the journey, several key performance indicators will be monitored and displayed to highlight the significance of this achievement. They include the exact travel time in days and hours, distance covered in kilometres, the amount of energy transferred to the vehicle, and data on CO2 emission reductions compared to diesel engines.
Electreon, a public company listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, has proven the effectiveness of its wireless charging technology through numerous successful pilots, tenders and commercial projects worldwide.
The company wants to apply the technology not only to cars but also trucks and urban buses. It is setting up test routes in Germany, Sweden, and Italy in collaboration with local authorities.
Chariot Motors is partnering Electreon in a similar project in Sweden’s Gotland. This features a Chariot ultracapacitor electric bus equipped to tap a subsurface grid. The vehicle is Europe’s first e-bus to test this innovative charging method.
