The Sofia Municipality has taken a significant step toward modernizing the city’s public transport system by allocating more than EUR 41.8 million in advance funding for the implementation of existing contracts for the delivery of new trams, trolleybuses, and electric buses. The funds will be provided to the municipal operator Stolichen Electrotransport to enable the required advance payments and ensure the successful execution of the contracts.
One of the most significant projects is the delivery of 50 new electric buses, which will be carried out through a partnership between Chariot Motors and Higer Bus Company. The project includes the supply of 35 new 12-meter low-floor fast-charging electric buses together with 10 charging stations, as well as 15 new 18-meter low-floor articulated fast-charging electric buses and 6 charging stations. These new vehicles will contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable, and more comfortable public transport system in Sofia while reducing harmful emissions and lowering operating costs.
Chariot Motors’ participation in this large-scale project marks another important step toward the implementation of modern and sustainable transportation solutions in Bulgaria. The upcoming delivery of the new electric buses will help create a cleaner urban environment, improve the quality of public transport services, and provide a more comfortable travel experience for both Sofia’s residents and visitors.
