In a pilot project, the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo, ElectReon, and the Dan Bus Company, are installing wireless electric road charging for public transport.
In an Israeli first, the route stretches the two kilometres between Tel Aviv University Railway Station and the Klatzkin Terminal in Ramat Aviv and includes 600 metres of electric road.
The project will enable specially equipped electric buses to tap subsurface infrastructure for in-motion charging. After some two months of testing and technology integration, a Dan Bus electric bus will ply the actual route serving travellers to the University.
Said Oren Ezer, ElectReon CEO and Founding Partner, “This is a very important step in the implementation of electric road technology, and we are delighted that the first electrified public route is being established in Tel Aviv – a global leader in the field of innovation and smart transportation. We see this project as the first step of fruitful collaboration with the Municipality, the Transportation Ministry, Dan, and Pandan – the importer of Higer buses into Israel. We thank the Israel Innovation Authority and the Ministry of Energy for their support with this project.”
