In 2015 Israeli public transport operator Dan and the Israel Ministry of Transport launched a route solely with electric buses in Tel Aviv. This piloted a significant rollover to electric traction.
The order included 20 e-buses with advanced ultracapacitors allowing rapid recharging and lower electrical capacity. Five minutes’ recharging allows 15 to 25km range; the average city bus route is 10km. E-buses need no electricity for their entire daily run. Those developed by Israel’s Chariot Motors have Chinese Aowei ultracapacitors and re made by Higer.
